A 20-Year Love Affair: From Sapling to Statement Tree
I’m the founder and creator of Feathers of Italy, a brand I built from scratch, inspired by my love for timeless design, Italian heritage, and effortless style. But beyond fashion, I’m also a passionate interior designer with a deep-rooted love for restoring and reimagining spaces. From saving historic buildings and breathing life back into listed properties, to designing hotel rooms, spas, care homes, restaurants, and private residences—my work spans the full spectrum of soulful, considered design. Every project is a chance to tell a story, and whether it’s through fabric or furniture, I’m always creating from the heart.
Every home has its defining moments—the little touches and the bold gestures that quietly whisper, “Now I’m complete.” For me, one of those moments came this week, as I finally paired a tree I’ve nurtured for two decades with two of the largest, hand-built pots I’ve ever commissioned.
This Bay tree has been a slow and steady companion for 20 years. Planted with no great agenda, just love and instinct, it’s been part of my journey through design, motherhood, business, and life. From its early days as a small, fragrant shrub, it grew alongside me—and now, standing tall, it finds its forever home outside Spenford House in two monumental pots designed to honour its scale and presence.
The reaction has been incredible. Neighbours, passers-by, and visitors have all stopped to admire this striking addition to the entrance. And honestly, it touches me deeply. Because this isn’t just a tree. It’s a symbol of growth, patience, and vision—values that run through every fibre of Spenford House and The Interior Co and me.
When I first took on the restoration of this Grade II listed home, my mission was to breathe life back into its bones without losing the essence of its history. Every beam, every reclaimed floorboard, every window frame tells a story—and now, with these towering planters and their homegrown resident, even the entrance is beginning to sing.
It’s taken time—just like raising that tree. But slowly, beautifully, this house is coming alive.

Why the Details Matter
In both interiors and exteriors, scale matters. A grand entrance needs to be met with something equally bold. The right planter isn’t just a vessel—it’s a design feature. These bespoke pots were built to balance the height and heritage of Spenford House, offering timeless drama without overpowering the architecture.
Likewise, the Bay tree brings elegance, scent, and symbolism. It’s not just beautiful—it’s personal. This is what The Interior Co. is all about: soulful design, layered storytelling, and thoughtful impact.
