5 Italian Pieces We’re Loving for Autumn

Five pieces I’m loving for the new season

Want to know how I’d style them?
I’ve shared my five autumn favourites – and how I’d wear them – in my latest style blog.

  1. Pietro Lana Fine Knit in Mulberry Soft fine knit

Mulberry is one of those beautiful shades that feels sophisticated without being too serious. It’s rich, warm and incredibly easy to work into your existing wardrobe.

The Pietro Lana Fine Knit is exactly the sort of piece I love for this time of year – simple enough to wear every day, but with enough colour to make an outfit feel considered.

Wear it with your favourite jeans and ankle boots for a relaxed weekend look, or dress it up with tailored trousers, a statement necklace and a beautiful coat.

And don’t be afraid of colour.

One of my favourite ways to dress in autumn is to take a gorgeous rich shade like mulberry and let it become the focal point of the outfit, keeping everything else beautifully simple.

My styling tip: Try mulberry with cream, camel, chocolate brown or even a touch of leopard print for a little extra personality.

    2. Milan Poncho Tunic Jumper in Khaki Green

    For effortless layering.

Khaki is a wonderful autumn colour because it sits somewhere between neutral and statement shade.

The Milan Poncho Tunic Jumper is the kind of piece that makes getting dressed easy. Throw it over a simple top, add jeans or trousers and you’re ready to go.

I particularly love this style for women who want clothes to skim rather than cling. The relaxed poncho silhouette gives you freedom to move and makes it very easy to layer underneath.

And that is really the secret to dressing well as the weather changes – layers that you can add or remove throughout the day.

Wear it with denim for a casual look, or style it with slim trousers and boots when you want something a little more polished.

My styling tip: Khaki looks beautiful with cream, ivory, tan and chocolate. Add gold jewellery and you’ve instantly elevated the look.

The Milan Poncho Tunic Jumper is currently listed in the Feathers Of Italy knitwear collection at £69.

    3. Knitted Star Poncho in Beige

    The perfect luxury-feeling layer.

There are some pieces that you simply reach for again and again.

A beautiful poncho is one of them.

The Knitted Star Poncho in Beige is designed for layering and is made in Italy in a cashmere-mix knit. It is available in six colours, including beige, navy, grey, pink and teal. (Feathers Of Italy)

Beige is particularly lovely for autumn because it gives you that soft, expensive-looking neutral palette without feeling harsh.

Wear it over a crisp white shirt, a fine knit or even a simple dress. Add jeans and boots and you have an easy weekend outfit; wear it over tailored trousers and jewellery and it can take you somewhere much smarter.

I also love pieces like this because they don’t demand a particular age or shape.

They simply drape beautifully and allow you to create your own look.

My styling tip: Don’t be tempted to wear every colour in one outfit. Let the beige do the talking and add texture through leather boots, a suede bag or beautiful jewellery.

The Knitted Star Poncho is currently listed at £79.99. (Feathers Of Italy

    4. Naples Long Padded Gilet in Black

The layer you’ll wonder how you lived without.

If there is one thing British autumn weather teaches us, it’s that layering is essential!

A long gilet is such a useful piece because it gives you warmth without the bulk of a traditional winter coat.

The Naples Long Padded Gilet in Black is an easy addition to your autumn wardrobe and black makes it incredibly versatile.

Wear it over knitwear with jeans and trainers for an everyday country look, or style it over a more polished outfit when you’re heading out for lunch or shopping.

For me, this is where practical fashion becomes good fashion.

    You want to be warm.

    You want to be comfortable.

But you also want to look fabulous.

And there is no reason you can’t have all three.

My styling tip: A long gilet looks particularly good worn over a longer jumper or tunic, with slim trousers or leggings underneath to balance the proportions.

The Naples Long Padded Gilet is currently listed at £99. (Feathers Of Italy

    5. Luxury 100% Cashmere & Feather Trim Coat in Olive

The statement coat that makes every outfit feel special.

Every autumn wardrobe deserves a beautiful coat that you can rely on year after year.

The Luxury 100% Cashmere & Feather Trim Coat in Olive is one of those truly special pieces. Made from luxurious cashmere and finished with a beautiful feather trim, it combines warmth, elegance and a little touch of Italian glamour.

Olive is a wonderful alternative to classic black. It feels rich and sophisticated, while still being surprisingly easy to wear with the rest of your wardrobe.

The beauty of this coat is that it can transform even the simplest outfit. Wear it over jeans and a fine knit for a relaxed but polished daytime look, or style it with tailored trousers, a dress and beautiful jewellery when you’re heading somewhere special.

It is the kind of coat you put on when you want to feel instantly dressed.

    For a special lunch.

    A winter wedding.

    Christmas drinks.

    An evening away.

Or simply because sometimes you don’t need an occasion to wear something beautiful.

And that’s something I really believe in.

Don’t save your favourite clothes for “best”.

    Wear them.

    Enjoy them.

Let them become part of your life.

My styling tip: Olive looks beautiful with cream, camel, chocolate brown, black and denim. Keep the rest of your outfit simple and let the feather trim become the focal point. Add gold jewellery and a structured handbag for an effortlessly elegant finish.

The Luxury 100% Cashmere & Feather Trim Coat in Olive is currently listed at £499. (Feathers Of Italy)

Autumn Style, The Feathers Of Italy Way

For me, autumn dressing isn’t about throwing away everything you wore in summer and starting again.

    It’s about adding.

    Add a beautiful knit.

    Add a gorgeous scarf.

    Add a statement coat.

    Add richer colours.

    Add texture.

And most importantly, add a little of your own personality.

Fashion changes every season, but style doesn’t have to.

At Feathers Of Italy, I’ve always wanted to find clothing that makes women feel comfortable, confident and just a little bit fabulous – whether you’re dressing for a day out, travelling, meeting friends or simply enjoying an autumn day at home.

So as we head into the new season, my advice is simple:

    Choose pieces you love.
    Wear them your way.
And never be afraid to add a little Italian glamour.

    With love,

    Kerrie x
